Ace Refractories, Formerly ACC Refractories – A Division of the Associated Cement Companies Limited (ACC), came into existence in October 2005, when ACC divested the refractory business as an ongoing business without disturbing manpower, assets, intellectual property etc. to focus on its core business, viz. Portland Cement. The refractory business of ACC has a long history and started in 1951, with the manufacture of firebrick for captive requirements. By virtue of its long association and experience in the field of refractories, today Ace Refractories is a reputed and well – established name.
For focused approach on refractories activity, following an all – round transformation / upgradation of its activities, ACC in 1989 made the refractories operation into a separate autonomous division of ACC. Re-christened “Ace Refractories” commenced catering to a growing range of industries.
In 1996 Ace Refractories emerged as the largest supplier of refractories in the country. In the year ’05 - 06 our total dispatches crossed 1,70,000 MT and our sales turnover exceeded US$ 70 million, including US$ 5 million contribution from export.
Over the years we have got identified as the most quality conscious refractory supplier in India. Our strong in – house Research & Development capability is complemented by collaborations with several world renowned refractory producers. Based on in – house development and global connections, ACC developed state – of – the – art technology, now inherited by Ace Refractories, to cater to every need of refractory users in India and abroad.
Katni Refractory Works (KRW), the mother manufacturing plant, has modern and sophisticated facilities for shaped as well as unshaped refractory production and produced over 120,000 MT in 2005 - 06.
A new plant, Nagpur Refractory Works (NRW), with an installed capacity of 45,000 tonnes per annum has been set up at Butibori in 1995. NRW focuses on production of newer range of monolithics, like Basic Ramming Masses, Blast Furnace (BF) Taphole Clay, BF Trough Castables, Aluminous as well as Basic Gunning Masses, BF Trough Ramming Masses, Injection Material and Silicon Carbide castables. The product range of NRW also includes wide range of Plastic refractories.
Ace Refractories had been the first Indian refractory maker to introduce the franchising concept for product manufacture. Majority of the high alumina dense bricks of Ace Refractories are manufactured through our franchisees. We, however, ensure that the franchisee products meet stringent quality norms of Ace Refractories.
The products and expertise of the Refractory business demonstrate a unique blend hitherto unavailable in India. It includes an extensive list of shaped and unshaped refractory products, as well as a variety of refractory binders. The captive production of binders assures finished products of the highest quality.
Ace Refractories had been a front runner in offering refractory installation service, which is a critical aspect of refractory performance. We commenced offering this service in 1987 and today we have a vast pool of qualified engineers who can offer services for material selection, lining design, material installation and preheating services. This capability enables us to offer total turnkey contracts including refractory application.
In addition, the countrywide network of regional marketing offices, manned by engineers and technologists, provide assistance in troubleshooting to improve service life, in identifying the ideal product for specific service conditions and in developing import substitutes by working with consultants whenever the need arises. Over 45 specialist dealers in refractories complement this activity. Ace Refractories can offer virtually any product at customer’s doorstep.
All the Ace Refractories manufacturing units as well as marketing offices are networked by VPN and the business activities are managed by SAP R/3, the latest among ERP solutions for running and managing business.
